West University 4th of July Parade
As the clouds broke overhead and gave way to the all-too-familiar heat of Houston, memories of past Independence Day celebrations came to mind. This year, I had the pleasure of joining the City of West University again in their celebration of this great holiday.
Flocks of families lined the streets by West University Elementary as they prepared to make their way down University Boulevard toward Colonial Park in the annual bike parade.
The friendship and sense of community brought about by the tradition of this event is remarkable, strengthening the patriotism parade-goers feel for their country. There were many familiar faces in this year’s parade, including Captain America, the West U Rotary Club’s “World Famous Kazoo Band” and the red West U fire truck leading the way, siren blasting. As the event continues to grow, I am proud to see more families and friends involved in building their community and celebrating the history of our country.
