Building a stronger community
Boy Scout Troop 197 recently celebrated two new Eagle Scouts, Benjamin Campbell and Jonny Bloch (pictured, from left). Benjamin graduated from Bellaire High School in May and is now at the University of Texas at Austin where he is studying sound engineering at the School of Fine Arts. For his Eagle project, Benjamin built a mini nature library at the Nature Discovery Center in Bellaire. Jonny is a senior at the High School for Performing and Visual Arts. He hopes to study technical theater when he attends college next fall. Jonny’s Eagle project was building picnic tables for St. Phillip’s Methodist Church in Meyerland, Troop 197’s sponsor. Both young men went with their troop on high adventure expeditions to the Philmont Scout Ranch and to Swampbase which involved kayaking for a week through the swamps of Louisiana.
