Golf for a good cause
Jared Wiesenthal, a student at The Emery/Weiner School, started a father-son golf tournament. The charity fundraiser will be held Nov. 15 starting at 8:30 a.m. at Wildcat Golf Club. The price is $350 for a father and son together. The proceeds will go to Halo House Foundation, which Brad Freels introduced him to, which is building affordable housing near the Texas Medical Center for patients and their families. The inspiration behind the fundraiser is Jared’s dad, Michael, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2008. In the past, Jared and Michael loved to play golf together, but that had to stop during his cancer treatments. Now, they’re getting back into the game together. Both Jared’s dad and his late grandfather, Harold Wiesenthal, hosted charity golf tournaments for different causes.
