The Heritage Society's Fall SIP Series
The Heritage Society, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to tell the stories of Houston’s diverse history through collections, exhibits and educational programs, recently hosted the first of their Fall SIP series at Marc Melcher’s home in Tanglewood. Built in 1954 by August Bering, the Tudor Ranch style home was “a wonderful setting for the first of the Fall SIP parties,” said Deborah Duty, who’s the communications director of the nonprofit.
Enjoying the event were many former residents of the neighborhood, including Norman Bering and his sister Gaile Withers, who told stories of growing up in the home, and spoke of the changes to the house over the years. Also in attendance were Beth Robertson and daughter Cullen Geiselman, who lived across the street from the home in the years after the Berings.
The next SIP event (See Irreplaceable Places) is Wednesday, Sept. 23 at a Prairie Style home in Woodland Heights. Tickets are still available. See more details here.
