New Eagle Scouts

Congratulations to new Eagle Scouts Michael Pastor, Chad Coffey and Lars Koehn! Michael, Chad and Lars are all part of Boy Scout Troop 641 at Chapelwood United Methodist Church.

Michael, a senior at School of the Woods, planned his Eagle Scout Project at the Houston Arboretum, where he led a team of 26 volunteers in clearing 30,000 square feet of brush and invasive species. Michael raised more than $ 1500 in donations for the Houston Arboretum – 150 percent over his goal. Michael has been a Boy Scout for more than seven years and is an active member in the Order of the Arrow. Michael was assistant senior patrol leader at El Rancho Cima, a camp in the Texas Hill Country, and also went with his troop to Rocky High Adventure Base in Pueblo, Colorado.

Chad, a junior at St Thomas High School, installed a pavestone patio and landscape for a family gathering at The Dad’s Club. He raised more than $1800 and led 18 volunteers on the project. Chad has been active in scouting for 10 years, earning the Cub Scout Arrow of Light, Order of the Arrow and emblems from the God and Scouting program. This summer, Chad travelled to the Boy Scout World Jamboree in Japan to gather with more than 35,000 scouts from around the world.

Lars, also a junior at St. Thomas High School, cleared invasive plant species and installed erosion control measures at the Houston Arboretum for his Eagle Scout Project. He raised $750 and led 28 volunteers on the project. Lars has been active in scouting for 10 years, earning the Arrow of Light and Order of the Arrow. Last summer, Lars went on a 10-day backpacking trek at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
