Katniss and Rumi
We are a three-legged love story. Our mom adopted Rumi and quickly determined that he wanted a playmate. Since he only had three legs, she searched for a female tripod and serendipitously located me. After a weekend introduction, she decided that we all belonged together. She named me Katniss, after the heroine in The Hunger Games, because I am absolutely fearless. Although we both came from very humble beginnings – Rumi was originally a feral TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and I was rescued from a known dog-dumping ground – we now spend our days watching the birds and squirrels eat from the bird feeder on our patio and lounging in sunbeams together. We greet our mom at the door when she comes home from work and spend most evenings cuddled together in bed. We are living proof that it doesn’t matter where you came from; it only matters where you’re going.
