A peaceful day
On International Peace Day on Sept. 21, students from every grade at Rummel Creek Elementary stepped out on a beautiful sunny day and proudly planted their artful pinwheels in the school lawn in a show of support for Pinwheels for Peace. Ten years ago, two art teachers in Florida started Pinwheels for Peace as an art installation and a way for their students to express their feelings about world peace. Pictured (from left) with their pinwheels are fourth graders Layla Walker, Lina Kim, Chloe Popkin and Carolyn Briggs. In other RCE news, for the 2014-15 school year, Rummel Creek Elementary’s Parent Teacher Association was awarded with Spring Branch ISD’s highest elementary PTA honor, the Outstanding PTA Award.
