Bellaire High School held its musical production, “The Addams Family Musical” from Jan. 21-23. With auditions for the musical taking place in early September 2015, preparation since had been continuous and extensive. However, students worked tirelessly and, after several long months of singing drills, dance practices, and block rehearsals, the cast was ready to launch its first showing.
Both Bellaire theatre students and non-theatre students contributed heavily to the success of the production. “The show was so engraved in my brain I remember I would subconsciously sing the songs in class,” senior and cast member Greer Blitzer said. “Performing was so liberating. It was the best part because that was when all of our hard work finally paid off. We had three showing nights, and each night the show seemed to only get better.”
A tale of an oddly wonderful family, "The Addams Family Musical" follows the original story detailing the lives several quirky individuals.
“I played Morticia, the mother of the household,” Blitzer said. “She’s my alter ego, and the Addams family brought back an element of my childhood that I got to relive. It was a dream come true, honestly.”
