At Hunters Creek Elementary, each third-, fourth- and fifth-grade classroom had two classroom Spelling Bee winners representing them at the school’s spelling bee. HCE assistant principal Deana Ratnala, assisted by parent volunteers Kathy Deffebach and Gena Rush, organized the event, and Roberta Smiley, Spelling Bee volunteer, helped prepare the students. The winners, who will represent HCE in the Spring Branch ISD Spelling Bee, are first-place winner Srijan Velamuri from fifth grade and second-place winner Luke Romere, also from fifth grade.
