St. Patrick's Day

Sisters Lyla (at left) and Lexi McCulloch explored their Irish roots on St. Patrick’s Day.

Sisters Lyla and Lexi McCulloch explored their Irish roots on St. Patrick’s Day. Dressed in green tutus and matching four-leaf clover T-shirts, their mom, Lauren McCulloch, said the family “takes St. Patrick’s Day very seriously” to celebrate their Irish heritage.

Lauren’s mother, Karen Wiseman, is Irish. Her father, Kevin Conneely, was born in Ireland and moved over to America when he was about five. “He came over when he was a small child on a ship called "American Farmer,” said Lauren.

Lauren said her mother “loves to eat corn beef and cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day.” This year, Lyla and Lexie packed up with the family and headed to McGonigel’s Mucky Duck. They enjoyed delicious food, great Irish dancers and bagpipe music. Lauren said the family listened to a beautiful rendition of Danny Boy.

“That song always makes my Mom think of my grandpa.”

How do you celebrate your family’s heritage with your children?
