Bowling for a cause
The Stuttering Association for the Young scored a homerun at the George Springer All-Star Bowling Benefit held on June 2 at Lucky Strike Houston. Teammates, celebrities and over 200 fans (including his parents, two sisters and nephew) helped raise more than $100,000. Attending were Astros player Carlos Correa, KPRC radio host Michael Garfield, former Houston Oiler Haywood Jeffires, KPRC radio host Steve Johnson, KTRK's David Nuno, former Houston Texan Chester Pitts, former New York Yankees player Vernon Wells and KMBE radio host Lance Zierlein. Proceeds from the event will send children from families in need to Camp SAY, a summer camp for young people who stutter. Springer, who stutters, hosted the Bowling Benefit. See campsay.org.
