Cruising friends
Ruth and Trevor Rabie, Olivia and Arnold Ostrin, and Carol and Leonard Hershkowitz took a Baltic cruise that turned out to be a study in contrasts. At a memorable stop in St. Petersburg they noted all the poverty as they walked through the wealth of the surroundings. In Estonia, which suffered under the Soviets and Germans, there were changes going on. Ruth and Trevor took a guided bike tour that started in the old Tallinn and went to the outskirts. The cruise ended in Stockholm, where Ruth’s niece and nephew live. They gave them a tour of the canals. It was Midsummer, which is celebrated as a huge holiday and everything closes. When it is midnight, it is still light outside. The Ostrins went to Arnold’s cousin’s place in Copenhagen, and the Hershkowitzes went to Oslo. Everyone parted ways but met up in Houston.
