10 years and counting

The 10th anniversary of Fathers ’n Flashlights will be celebrated this year at the annual event Oct. 1-2. Aaron and Daryl Hoover (Daryl is pictured, at right), along with honorary co-chair Jennifer Gatto (at left), say they had a simple vision one decade ago: Create a neighborhood event, surround it with fun-filled activities, and hopefully bring families and the community together while raising money for The Friends of West University Place Parks Fund, Inc. A decade later, the event is sold out every year. They thanked the volunteer chairpersons and Donna LaMond, executive director of the parks, for her efforts in keeping the tradition going. Co-chairs are Kelly and Sean Butler, Kristine and Joaquin Martinez, and Kara and Curt Schaefer. Registration is online. See westuparks.org.
