Field hockey friends
Sixth graders Lilly Price, Ella Rose and Frances Moriniere (pictured, from left) had a great first season of field hockey at St. John’s School (SJS). Before this academic year, school sports began in seventh grade, so these girls are part of the first SJS sixth-grade field hockey team. Coaches Ziad Allan and Brenda Mercado taught the girls fundamentals, and they competed against many teams, including Duchesne Academy, St. Francis Episcopal School and Texas Pride. The majority of the team are beginners because field hockey is still growing in popularity in Houston, but a few of the SJS sixth-grade team had previously played for Texas Pride. Ella loves to play midfield, and her favorite part of the game is being on the field with her friends and representing her school.
