All school year, Briargrove Elementary School has hosted events in celebration of its 60th birthday. In February right before the Super Bowl, the PTO hosted an all-school Fun Run, a fundraiser for the school’s new track. Each of the students solicited pledges from family and friends all over the world. They were paid per lap, and pledges came in from 10 different countries, including Germany, France and India. The school raised more than $35,000. Celebrating the day were (pictured, previous page, from left) PTO president-elect Julie Economides, Dianne Friedl, second grader Kyle Economides and first grader Drew Friedl.
