Mady and Ken Kades invited friends and relatives to visit them while they lived in a grand luxury apartment in Florence for two weeks. Connie and Pat Reddy, Matthew and Lil Kades and their 12-year-old daughter Margot, Dr. Alex and Jennifer Butkevich, and long-time traveling companions KayLane and Tom Hardeman enjoyed the “headquarters” that overlooked the Arno River. Although the elevator held four people nose to nose to the fourth floor, the four-bedroom, five-bath mini palace’s stairway had candles lit up to the rooftop terrace, where they could see all of Florence. Private tours, side trips to Pisa, Siena, the coast of Versilia, marble caves in Carrara, Stalattiti caverns and a tour of the medieval horse race, the Palio, filled their days. What did Margot like the best? Gelato twice a day!
