Gone but not forgotten
That is what the granite tribute says for 61 fallen peace officers of Harris County, who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect citizens. The construction of the Memorial Garden at the Crime Stoppers of Houston Dave Ward Building was designed, funded and dedicated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Foundation. The Honor Torch was lit, and seven Tribute Towers listing the names of fallen peace officers were unveiled. Foundation founding members include Franco Valobra, Tracy Krohn, John Moritz, John Speer, Larry Blackburn, Ugo Tombolini, Devinder Bhatia and John Houghtaling. Officials include Katrina Arnim (executive director), Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, former Sheriff Adrian Garcia and Houston police Chief Art Acevedo. Paying tribute were Cecil Arnim, Sam Gershen, Evelyn Leightman, Tina and Jonathan Stewart, Rania Mankarious, John Moritz, Jana and Scott Stiffel, other public officials, members of the Honor Guard and surviving family members.
