“Please help save my family – we cannot get to the roof with five small children.”  That was the desperate text that Jacqueline Smooke got at 4 a.m. from Cecile Diederiches de Marquez as water poured into her house, a result of Hurricane Harvey. Right away, Jacqueline posted the dilemma on Facebook. Keri Henry saw it and organized a boat parade to the Memorial Bend area, which later included Fonn Villas. The Cajun Navy joined in and before long thousands of boats were all over Memorial aiding flood victims. Patty Villarella saw Jacqueline at the mall weeks later and said, “You saved my family!”
