Editor's Note - November 2017
I know expressing thankfulness is expected in this season, but we are feeling especially so after some challenging months in our communities. We are grateful for generous neighbors who have come together to help flooded strangers, including our own Deborah Blumberg, who shares her upsetting but life-affirming experience in this month’s issue. This issue also tackles the difficult topic of another ongoing challenge: heroin addiction. Writer Cathy Gordon talked with Marcy and Randy Uzick and Maureen Wittels, who share their devastating experiences of losing their sons to an addiction that often is not talked about, especially in our communities. Our hope is that their honesty will be eye-opening and possibly save lives. November means Thanksgiving and family gatherings, which can be joyous but also an opportunity to check in with loved ones face to face. Buzz residents Eve Lapin, Lauren Blachman, Margaret Bravo, Elizabeth Parry and Dana Strake have tips for making that holiday table even more special. We wish you a joyful holiday and, as always, thank you for trusting us with your stories. [email protected]
