Running for a reason
Manizeh Mirza-Gruber (pictured) crossed the finish line at the 42nd annual Marine Corps Marathon with a time of 4:26:11. After the race, a Marine placed the finisher medal around her neck, saluted and thanked her. Mirza-Gruber ran as a “fundracer” for Back on My Feet (BoMF), a national nonprofit organization that helps homeless individuals get back on their feet through running. “I have been taking care of the homeless and their mental health for over 25 years,” she said. “Since 2014, I have run six of the 12 chapters fundracing for BoMF.” She said her goal is to run all 12 chapters in the next few years.
