College sweethearts

Jamie Nettles married college sweetheart Ashley Shamblin in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Jamie and Ashley graduated from the University of Virginia in 2015, where they met and started dating. Ashley is the daughter of Richard and Lori Shamblin of Tuscaloosa. The wedding was held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, and the reception was at the North River Yacht Club. Ashley wore her mother's wedding gown, remade with a veil made from the leftover lace. The groom's cake was a celebration of Jamie's role as Cav Man, the mascot at UVA, and his participation in club basketball there for four years. One of Jamie’s groomsmen was his childhood friend, Alex Quoyeser, a Strake Jesuit and Brown University grad, who came from California. His best man was his father, Larry Nettles. Sisters Kim Nettles and Caroline Nettles Kennedy served as bridesmaids. Family and friends danced to the music of the Fountain City Players. The couple honeymooned in Italy for two weeks and returned to live in Washington D.C.
