Inventive
Cameron Henkel, a 2017 Stratford High School graduate and former writer for our School Buzz blog, won a national design contest for his invention and had the opportunity to exhibit it at the CES Conference in Las Vegas. His design, “Aging in Place with Z-Wave: Remote Medication Dispenser,” was inspired by “the millions of caretakers, including his grandmother Lee Robertson, who care for elderly relatives who still want to lead independent lives.” He designed a medication dispenser that could be pre-loaded with the proper medication doses that would deliver the medication on a set schedule to the user and also alert a caretaker if a dose was missed. As the grand-prize winner, he won a trip to Vegas to attend the conference.
