Abdur Rahman Qaiser and Qaiser Bashir

Condit Elementary third grader Abdur Rahman Qaiser (pictured, left) won the under-9 finals at the Life Time Houston Junior Silver 2018 Squash Tournament. After losing the first game, he rebounded to win the tournament in a best-of-five match. Abdur began playing regularly about a year ago, and now practices twice or three times each week. What he loves best about squash is that he is in constant motion, without any idle time on the court. Abdur’s interest in the enclosed-court racquet sport began when he was a toddler, and held a racquet and ventured into the court while his father, Qaiser Bashir (pictured, on right), played at The Downtown Club at the Met. After playing in father-son fun matches, Abdur was ready to advance to competition. Squash has been called “the world’s healthiest sport,” so that entitles him to splurge on candy and chocolate.
