More than 400 guests, including Dr. Bob Sanborn, chef and party co-chair David Cordua and Ellen Sanborn (pictured, from left), packed into The Astorian for the Children at Risk and Houston Food Bank’s spring party, Big Apple Brunch, to fight child hunger. Party co-chairs Norma and Beto Cardenas, Tracy and Harry Faulkner, Doe and Henry Florsheim, and Theresa Hildreth, and auction chair Joy Chapman, along with guests, raised over $230,000. The event’s lead sponsor was AIG. Culinary treats were prepared by top Houston chefs, including Kiran Verma of Kiran’s Restaurant; Mark Cox of Mark’s American Restaurant; Mark Holley of Holley’s Seafood; Robert Del Grande of Café Annie and The Grove; Michael and David Cordua of Americas and Churrascos; Ricardo Vargas of The Capital Grille; Peter Montalvo from the Houston Food Bank; and Drake Leonards from Eunice, along with their sous-chefs, students from Northside High School.
