Rescued, from Turkey

Oya Freed had been making donations to an animal-rescue organization in Turkey, run by two college girls in Sakarya. The group feeds street dogs, care for sick dogs and place rescues in homes around the world (on Instagram @animalrescuesakarya). Last summer, Freed visited and went on a feeding run. She found a small dog that just wanted to be loved. “At that time, I couldn't take her with me, and the girls promised to keep an eye on her.” The little dog got sick and had to be taken to the clinic for a lung infection. It took around two months for her to improve. “Finally, right before Christmas, I told my family that all I wanted for my Christmas gift was Scarlett, and so I bought my ticket and told the girls to get Scarlett ready to come to her new home in Memorial.” On Valentine’s Day, Freed picked Scarlett up, and five days later they took a 13-hour flight back home to meet her new family and their other rescue dog, (from the ASPCA) Shadow.
