All-around champ

Wilchester Elementary third grader Cason Wakefield (pictured) won top honors at the Biron’s Spring Fever 2018 gymnastics competition. The team won first place, and Cason earned a medal for first place all around, TAAF Xcel Silver, Division 1, with a total score of 37.25. Cason spends six hours each week at the gym and also practices at home in her spare time. Vault is her favorite event, but she also enjoys competing on the floor and bars. The Spring Fever event was her fourth competition, and she plans to continue next year with the hope of participating in the state meet. Over the summer, Cason will dedicate her time to practicing her round off-back handspring-back flip to get ready for competition.
