$4.2 million for Holocaust Museum
Holocaust Museum Houston celebrated its 23rd Lyndon Baines Johnson Moral Courage Award Dinner by honoring President George W. Bush. More than 1,150 guests filed into Hilton Americas-Houston for the annual dinner, chaired by Lester and Sue Smith (pictured, with President Bush), Shelly and Brian Hendry, and Limor and Stuart Smith. The event raised $4.2 million to support the worldwide educational programs of the museum. Honorary chairs included the Bush family, Sen. Joe Lieberman, Margaret Alkek Williams and Mayor Sylvester Turner. Mady and Ken Kades served as host committee chairs. In lieu of a keynote speech, the Hon. Fred Zeidman, chairman emeritus of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, facilitated a conversation with President Bush, discussing key events during his time as president and his life since leaving office.
