Frances Rubin’s Tuesday mah jongg group entertained with a skit and a royal flash to the Queen for the Day, who wore a pink crown and a purple slash that said “Damn, I Make 60 Look Good!” Many friends in Frances’ various groups celebrated her milestone 60 at Mindy Gross’ home for brunch. Betty Babendure sang a song, and Sara Ostrofsky told a Frances story. The host committee, led by Vicky Dyer-Smith and Sue Feinberg, included Jill Reichman, Jeannette Nestveld, Mady Kades, Michele Hosko, Lili Rubin, yours truly and Diane Gelman, who made the decadent, delicious chocolate cake.

Although Sharon Brier grew up in the Rio Grande Valley she left as soon as she could and found herself immersed in all that Houston has to offer.
