It all started in this little Hungarian valley in what is now Slovakia. Stefani Twyford’s great-grandfather, Herman Ilkovics, at the age of 16, left Hungary to come to America in 1891. His family were farmers and managed the Dessewffy estate in Fintice that was eventually given to them. It is now an art gallery and museum owned by the government. The director, Gabriel Trusa, gave Stefani and husband Loren Twyford a tour and showed them their family artifacts.
