Editor's Note - November 2018
Our Thanksgiving tradition always kicks off with a big, fat, juicy . . . argument. My philosophy is the more, the merrier. Michael, on the other hand, prefers more intimate gatherings. Every year, I promise him I’ll keep it small and simple, but every year, I don’t. While I love big, messy celebrations, cooking is another matter. I opt out of making a homemade turkey, or homemade anything. That’s definitely not the case with the talented residents featured in Jennifer Oakley’s article on Thanksgiving traditions and recipes. Also in this issue, meet the impressive women behind the classic Houston Junior League Cookbook, which turns 50 this year, as well as the Peace Meals cookbook, which turns 10. This story by Andria Frankfort takes a look at generations of women who created all the popular charity cookbooks over the years. Happy holidays to all of you, no matter how you slice your turkey.
