Knitting with friends
Nearly three years ago, Arza Funk, an avid knitter, decided to start a knitting group. She asked some friends, and the group, some of whom didn’t know how to knit previously, eventually grew to 13 members. The group meets weekly at one of their homes and enjoys lunch together, catches up from the week and knits or crochets during the afternoon. They create clothing and items for themselves, children and grandchildren, and also to donate to charities. They’ve donated blankets to Casa de Esperanza, Ronald McDonald House and, most recently, hats for adults in the sarcoma department at MD Anderson. Neighbors and friends donate their own leftover yarn, knowing the group will put it to good use.
