The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation’s Ladies for Literacy Guild Members and friends gathered at the River Oaks Bookstore and got a glimpse of the Curiosity Cruiser, a mobile library that provides books to children in low-income areas. Membership co-chairs Ginger Blanton and Pam Sengelmann recruited new members as guests had light bites and champagne. As a bonus, author Julie Manier and son Grant, eco-artist and illustrator of the book Grant the Jigsaw Giraffe, chatted with guests and showed his artwork, books and Giraffe products. Old and new members who helped to turn a new chapter for the group were Betty Hrncir, Julie Baker Finck, Stephanie Tsuru, Claudia Kreisle, Sue Conway, Carley Colton, Kristen Oesch Stubbs, Alexa Bode, Gayle Fallon, Jan Rhodes, Kathryn Riddles, Lisa Jakel, Melissa Murphy and Claire Blanton.
