Helen Frierson and Kirby Taylor first met during seventh grade at Lanier Middle School before going their separate ways to attend Lamar and Bellaire high schools, respectively. The couple reconnected during 2015 after Helen graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and Kirby from Rice University. In October, Kirby popped the question while the couple strolled through the campus of Rice University. After Helen said yes, Kirby surprised her with an engagement party with friends and family hosted by both of the couple's parents, Theresa and Ray Frierson and Gina and Keith Taylor. The surprise party was followed by a celebratory trip to their favorite vacation spot, Cabo San Lucas. The couple's wedding is set for November 2019 at St. Anne's Catholic Church and Houston Country Club.
