History-making champs

St. Cecilia School’s soccer team (pictured) defeated The Regis School in the Galveston-Houston Catholic Athletic Association (GHCAA) final. The 2-1 victory earned St. Cecilia its first championship, and was the perfect ending to their first winning season in many years. After three consecutive years of not scoring a single goal, the St. Cecilia soccer players turned things around a couple of seasons ago and began an upward motion toward victory. This year’s winning season had a 13-1-2 record, and the team was awarded the 2A South Division title and second seed in the GHCAA tournament. After defeating the historical powerhouse team from Regis, the St. Cecilia students, administration and parents rushed the field to congratulate the players on their victory and the start of a new winning soccer tradition.
