Beautiful backyard wedding
Kate and Luke Kennedy met through mutual friends on the day Kate moved home to Houston from Austin, and they have been together ever since. Luke proposed while they were on a road trip through the west. They say they chose to get married at Kate’s family home in Memorial because family is important to both of them. It was particularly special for them to get married in the home Kate’s grandparents built in the ’50s, where Kate and her mom Nora both grew up. Friends and family members took on the roles of photographers, musicians, bartenders and wedding coordinators, and her dad and uncle built a dance floor for the reception. “Everything was truly home grown!” Kate said. The wedding day was a beautiful 73 degrees in December. Guests gathered under string lights to dance and, when the band took a break, roast s’mores. Parents Nora and Pete McMordie and Kerry and Cathy Kennedy are thrilled.
