Susan and Joe Winkler, with friends Bruce and Virginia Nichols, went on a 30-day adventure that started in Johannesburg, South Africa. A visit to the modest home where Nelson Mandela started his political struggles was an eye opener. They slept under the stars and had a close encounter with a lion in Botswana. In Zimbabwe, they tracked (in a jeep) two female lionesses that met up with a male lion and reunited with their five cubs. They couldn’t get enough, so with their eyes wide open, the trip ended with a night safari drive with no lights.
