Champs in overtime
The West University Methodist fifth-grade boys basketball team (pictured) won the United Church Athletic League championship in a tight game against Annunciation Orthodox School. After an undefeated regular season, the West U team battled it out in a championship game that could have gone either way. The game went into overtime, and West U took the lead with only a few seconds left on the clock. Jack Stanger was the game’s top scorer, but the whole team was strong. Coach Tristan Anderson worked with the boys to move the ball quickly, and it paid off. The basketball champs are (top row, from left) Anderson, Jayden Gill, Ben Marshall, Alex Hughes, Rustin Golshan and Stanger; (front row, from left) Blake Kekish, Luke Michael, Sloan Rippstein, Jack Lane and Cade Mansour.
