YEAR OF THE PIG Nearly 2,000 kids and adults celebrated the Chinese New Year at the Mandarin Immersion Magnet School in the Galleria. Pictured are Kazu Gilbreth and Greyson Gerardi.

The Chinese New Year at the Mandarin Immersion Magnet School in the Galleria area was well attended with close to 2,000 children and adults. Since it is the Year of the Pig, there was a pig petting zoo. Other fun happenings included The Oh My Gogi food truck, pony rides and an inflated "hamster ball" that children roll around in. Each elementary grade had a song performance, but, according to Laura Gerardi, the most amusing one was the pre-kindergarten class’ performance of Baby Shark, in which her son Greyson took part. Dr. Kiki Palacios, Mark and Dr. Shinobu Gilbreth, Derek and Liz Sirmans, Jindy and Christy Lan, and Tim and Bridget Hughes were part of the scene.
