Stand up for cancer

The Broach Foundation for Brain Cancer Research hosted its eighth annual Stand-Up for Brain Cancer Gala at River Oaks Country Club. Leading the event were Jamie Broach Byrd and husband Jeff Byrd. Comedian John Crist created huge laughs for the more than 500 guests. The evening raised over $500,000 for brain cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center. In August 2011, James Broach was diagnosed with brain cancer and endured surgeries, radiation, chemo treatments and experimental trials. James decided to actively pursue a cure and, along with his wife, Jamie, established The Broach Foundation for Brain Cancer Research. James passed away in 2013.
