Trumpeter Bethany Vaughan, a rising junior at Indiana University, was accepted into the prestigious 30th Annual Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival. More than 390 applicants applied for 93 positions to study in the rigorous one-month classical music residency at the University of Houston Moores School of Music. Bethany attended Lovett Elementary, Meyerland Middle and HSPVA (for trumpet) and played trumpet and bass guitar at Bellaire United Methodist, where her parents, Jill and Alan Vaughan, sing and play flute. The TMF will feature Kenny Broberg, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition 2017 Silver Medalist, returning to his UH alma mater for the June 8, 7:30 p.m., Opening Night Concert.
