Back-to-school bash
MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital and The Galleria are hosting their eighth annual back-to-school bash, Sat., Aug. 10, 12-2:30 p.m. At noon, a 15-minute puppet show, for children K-4th grade, will address the dangers of tobacco use, e-cigarettes and vaping. At 1 p.m., children, including pediatric-cancer patients from the hospital’s on-site K-12 accredited school, their siblings and MD Anderson caregivers will highlight this season’s back-to-school trends. Pictured are sisters Claire (on left) and Janie Spedale, who participated in the show last year. The event, which includes face-painting, balloon artists and other family-friendly activities, is free. Donations benefit the hospital.
