Linda and Rob West actually went to northern Italy and drove around the Lake Como area into Austria to celebrate 52 years of marriage. In Austria, they stayed at Grundlers Hotel in Radstadt, owned by Houston’s Bill and Shari Lakenmacher. The Lakenmachers fell in love with the area on their 25th anniversary, and they made the international investment. The Wests’ 15 days included a drive through the snow-capped Dolomite Mountains, where minerals created green shimmering lakes. They had artistic designer food at Restaurant Obauer in Werfen, Austria, and at a three-hour, eight-course lunch at La Colombetta in Como, a favorite of George Clooney and Robert De Niro. Linda and Rob especially enjoyed the pairing of Austrian wines with each course, of course.
