Although Tropical Storm Imelda tried to crash the party, nearly 250 gathered for Memorial Park Conservancy’s State of the Park held at The Junior League of Houston. KPRC meteorologist Frank Billingsley was the emcee, sharing plenty of weather-related humor. Shellye Arnold, president and CEO of the Conservancy, spotlighted operational innovations and Master Plan projects to come. Guests viewed “behind the scenes” photographs of the Eastern Glades, opening in 2020. Additionally, sneak previews of the Land Bridge and Prairie project, which will span Memorial Drive, were revealed. Centerpieces were potted plants from the Memorial Park Greenhouse, seeds from native plants grown in the park, and jars of soil sourced from the BioCycle operation.
