Bike around the bay
Approximately 1,100 cyclists participated in Bike around the Bay, Galveston Bay Foundation’s two-day, annual 170-mile bicycle ride. Each year, the event serves as the foundation’s largest fundraising event, supporting efforts to protect and enhance the bay. This year’s event raised $495,872. Participants biked past the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, the Intracoastal Waterway at High Island, dolphins while crossing from the Bolivar Peninsula to Galveston Island on a ferry, the Galveston Causeway and the Texas City Levee, to finally conquer the Fred Hartman Bridge.
