Dexter
My name is Dexter, and, no, you are not seeing things. I do have thumbs. We are a special kind, called polydactyl cats, and if you ever tour the Ernest Hemingway House in Key West, Florida, you will see a lot of my cousins. While having thumbs is fun, I really haven’t mastered them yet. Some people think I am “different,” but it’s okay. The thumbs make me unique. Mom and Dad say I can Gig ’Em. So, a little about me: My dad found me eight years ago when I was just a kitten at the family ranch in South Texas. The place is in the middle of nowhere, and it’s full of cacti and coyotes and snakes. Yikes! They don’t know where I came from, and I will never tell. Dad brought me home to Bellaire and saved me.
