Wild night
The annual “Picnic in the Park” gala celebrated a big year for Memorial Park Conservancy, which operates Memorial Park in partnership with the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. Emceed by former KHOU 11 News anchor Lisa Foronda, the evening highlighted the progress of the park’s master plan, including the Eastern Glades and the first phase of the Sports Complex projects, both slated for completion this year. More than 350 guests gathered at The Omni Hotel, with a tree-lined entryway and greenery surrounding the stage. The Conservancy honored Wendy and Jeff Hines and announced the naming of Hines Lake, a five-acre lake that will debut as part of Eastern Glades this summer. The event raised more than $340,000. Event chairs were Carol and John Porter. Pictured are (from left) Jeff and Wendy Hines and Steve and Tammy Jenkins. See memorialparkconservancy.org.
