Helping the helpers
Houstonians stepped up to help one another during the pandemic. Among them is Samir Mehta, who discovered a website to coordinate food delivery to Chicago’s healthcare workers and decided to create a similar page in Houston. He enlisted the help of friends Jennifer Cross and Kristi Coffey to set up a page where people can sign up to have catered meals delivering to a designated hospital – a win-win, as this would help healthcare workers while supporting local restaurants. Just 10 days or so after the page launched, more than 2,500 meals had been delivered.
