Dining for Dad: Father’s Day Restaurant Roundup

With so much happening in the world and in our communities right now, let’s not forget to take the time to celebrate the fathers in our lives! Father’s Day is right around the corner, on Sunday, June 21, and sometimes, the best gift can be a delicious meal with the people who love him most. 

Here, we’ve rounded up a list of local restaurants offering Father’s Day specials. We’ve included details on both dine-in and take-out options. Either way, we recommend following the CDC’s guidelines for social distancing and protecting yourself and others from Covid-19. 

Backstreet Café

Backstreet Café has a special Father’s Day Southern Comfort Menu with items like a Grilled Texas Peach Salad, Shrimp and Stone-Ground Cheese Grits and Bourbon Bread Pudding. One of Chef Hugo’s signature restaurants, Caracol is offering a special “Dia de los Padres” coastal brunch menu featuring an assortment of seafood items like ceviche and oysters, plus classics like carne asada and enchiladas verdes. Chef Smirnov

Chef Smirnov has a classic Father’s Day brunch and dinner catering menu – available for pick-up or delivery – that includes favorites like Mac N Cheese and Chicken Tenders for dinner and breakfast tacos and a smoked salmon display for brunch. Eighteen36 is celebrating Father's Day all weekend with $20 steaks and $5 Old Fashions and Manhattans on Steak Night this Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to close and all day Sunday. To receive this promotion on take-out this weekend, call Eighteen36 directly at 832-831-7050. 

Goode Co. Barbeque

Houston’s home for barbecue will be open on Father’s Day for dine-in and to-go orders. Enjoy succulent brisket, ribs, chicken, Czech sausage and more.  

Hugo’s

For Father’s Day, Hugo’s has a special menu paying tribute to the milpa, a traditional agricultural system created by Mayan farmers where crops that are nutritionally and environmentally complementary are planted together in small plots, such as chiles, corn, beans and squash.  You will find many of these items on this Father’s Day menu. Reservations highly recommended. Jonathan’s the Rub Memorial Green

Jonathan’s The Rub at Memorial Green will be open for in-house dining on Father’s Day.  From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., they will offer their brunch menu as well as a menu of daily specials (including all-day breakfast). Full bar and wine list. Reservations recommended. 
 
Kenny & Ziggy’s

For Father’s Day, Kenny & Ziggy’s has four special family-sized packages available for pick-up – these must be ordered by Thursday, June 18. The family-size brunch options, which each feed 4-6 people, range in price from $95-$169. Options include a smoked fish brunch, a New York brunch, a delicatessen brunch and “The Grill of Your Dreams.” The Post Oak location is also open for dine-in service. 

Mastro’s Steakhouse

Mastro’s Steakhouse is offering three different grill kits with everything you need to grill at home. Or, let Mastro’s handle the grilling for you. Choose from the “Clever,” ($120 Raw / $150 Cooked) “Brave,” ($160 Raw / $190 Cooked) and “Superman” kits ($180 Raw / $210 Cooked). All kits include Caesar salad, different selections of filets, a selection of sides and Mastro’s Butter Cake. Call ahead and preorder by Sat. June 19. Prefer to dine in with Dad? MAX’s Wine Dive

At the Fairview location, MAX’s Wine Dive is offering a special Steak au poivre with bourbon sweet potato and glazed rainbow carrots or a Black pepper-crusted 10 oz ribeye with green peppercorn cream sauce, whipped bourbon sweet potatoes and rosemary honey glazed rainbow carrots for $29. At the Washington location, they are featuring a mouth-watering Bison Bone-in Ribeye with mashed potatoes, broccolini, and a blue cheese sauce for $32, and for $35 more you can add a lobster to the meal. Morton’s The Steakhouse

Morton’s is offering a 3-course meal, available to-go or for dine-in. The meal will start with a choice of salad or Shrimp Cocktail, followed by an entrée paired with a signature side item and a handmade dessert like Double Chocolate Mousse, Key Lime Pie or New York Cheesecake to top it off. 

NY Bagel Shop

If your dad loves Mexican food, check out Picos, which is offering a dine-in Father’s Day brunch from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday. Brunch highlights include seafood paella, an omelet station, a hot station with enchiladas and tamales, a cold station with ceviches and salads, and of course, an array of desserts. Prego

This Rice Village favorite will be open for Father’s Day for dine-in and to-go from 4-9 p.m. In addition to the regular menu there will be daily specials, especially grilled items for Dad! They are open 4-9 p.m. Full bar and award-winning wine list.  Reservations highly recommended.

Armadillo Palace will be open on Father’s Day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., serving everything from tacos to barbecue, seafood to salads, and of course, housemade desserts. A full bar and kids menu is also available. Reservations recommended. You can also place an order from Goode Co. Grocers and order items to-go, including the Grilling the Goode Way Grill Kit, signature cocktail kits and beer packs.  

The Oceanaire Seafood Room

The Oceanaire Seafood Room is offering a surf and turf special. For $75, families can enjoy  a 10 oz. center-cut filet paired with a fresh seafood selection of whole steamed lobster, jumbo shrimp scampi or crab cakes. Available to-go or for dine in at open locations. 

The Tasting Room at CityCentre

The Tasting Room has a special “Deals for Dads” to treat the father in your life this Sunday. The Tasting Room will be offering a selection of 3 choices all at $15 each. Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen

Sylvia’s Enchilada Kitchen’s two locations will be open for both in-house dining and curbside takeout for Father’s Day. The full menu with specials will be available as well as a special three-course Father’s Day menu for just $29.95. Reservations are encouraged but walk-in guests are seated as space is available.

State Fare Kitchen & Bar

State Fare Kitchen & Bar is serving a special Sunday Brunch that includes a southern fried lobster tail and fried chicken over waffles, served with spicy honey maple syrup, for $24. Reservations recommended but not required.
