Passing the gavel

The Junior League of Houston announced its 2020-21 executive committee. In light of the pandemic, the traditional President’s Tea was not able to take place; however, the gavel was passed with a small, in-person celebration. An announcement was sent to past presidents, members, family and friends asking for words of encouragement for incoming president Rachel Podsednik Regan (pictured, on right), and a surprise video tribute was created for the day. The 2019-20 board honored outgoing president Jayne Sheehy Johnston (on left) with meaningful gifts. Incoming president Regan’s theme for the upcoming year is “Imagine” – chosen prior to current events, even more significant now. The incoming executive committee also includes president-elect Jennifer Scheifley Roberts, community vice president Marie Teixeira Newton, development vice president Lauren Rae Brown, financial vice president Wendy Lewis Armstrong, membership vice president Helyna Betancourt Bledsoe and recording secretary Laura Silva Carter.
