Piranhas in the pool

Hayden Bradshaw (pictured) glides down the lane with a kickboard during a practice with the Plaza Oaks swim team. The Rummel Creek Elementary School second grader was enjoying her first year on the neighborhood swim team, and especially loved swimming backstroke. Instead of the Piranhas’ typical summer season, swim-team coordinator Jennifer Hyland and coaches Stephanie Mosley, Blocker Duncan, Riley Timmreck, Jake Hyland, Stockton Pyle and Ashley Cooper created an abbreviated season to give kids the chance to be in the water, while staying safe. The team focused on introducing new swimmers to the strokes and strengthening skills for all age groups.

Editor’s note: Send your best high-resolution photos and behind-the-scenes stories about young local athletes, in both team and individual sports, to SportzBuzz, Jr. at info@thebuzzmagazines.com. Include all contact info, names, ages, grades and schools. Featured athletes must live in Buzz-circulation neighborhoods. Items will be published on a space-available basis.
